Announcing our first Charity Partner:
the Elderly and Disabled Charitable Trust

Elderly and Disabled Charity Corporate Volunteer Days

We’re excited to announce our First Charity Partner – the Charity The Elderly and Disabled Charitable Trust UK.
Benevity members can find us here: https://causes.benevity.org/projects/564797.

We will be supporting the trust with their Harrow Rod Community Eco-Garden, NW10.
We will also be working together to support community gardens in sheltered housing across London.

Come and volunteer at the Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden

Address: Bridge Park (Business & Leisure Centre), Harrow Rd, London NW10 0RG
Google Maps Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Pn24UU9BByookgYe8

Volunteer Capacity: 12 volunteers

Harrow Road Eco-Garden is welcoming Corporate Gardening Volunteers from 1st March 2024.

We are looking for groups of Corporate Volunteer Gardeners who can come and get the work started – clearly a lot of people power required to get the process started!

Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden supports local school children, children with additional needs, and elderly and disabled residents in the local area. It gives them an opportunity to learn about planting, try their hand at it, get outside and get some exercise in an open and welcoming setting.

We are creating a beautiful mini allotment, surrounded by sensory plant borders (lavender, rosemary, and sage) and raised planters which make for less bending over for older gardeners.

Harrow-Road Eco Community Garden wants Corporate Work Days

We’ll be supporting the Trust by funding their community garden through Corporate Gardening Volunteer days both at their site and at other community green sites across London.

If you’d like your team to get stuck in at Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden, please email Matt@LeavesBreathe.co.uk or post below.

The Eco-Garden needs a bit of TLC so we’re prioritizing this as one of our key sites for Spring 2024.

I’ve attached the before photo here – I can’t wait to see the ‘after-photo’.

We also want to introduce Jenny Gerald (third from left)

The phrase “Community Champion” never seemed truer.

Jenny founded and runs The Elderly and Disabled Trust. She is full of energy and then some. And vision for the future of her community space, the Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden. Infectious energy also – meeting Jenny has got me writing the first social media post after a long, super-shy stint far away from social media.

Jenny is transforming a small area near Stonebridge Park NW10 into Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden – and she needs your help. She is looking for Corporate Volunteer Gardeners.

The Trust runs a gardening group for children, elderly people. It has a mobile food bank and a pet food bank – which is a wonderful thing to include because pets are such a companion, doubly so if you’re feeling isolated.

Jenny is partnering up with Leaves Breathe – we’re going to leads groups of Corporate Gardening Volunteers to her community garden. We planned out a beautiful mini allotment, surrounded by sensory plant borders (lavender, rosemary, and sage) and raised planters which make for less bending over for older gardeners.

Jenny is looking for teams of Corporate Volunteers to join her from Spring 2024.

Her garden is near Stonebridge Park Tube Station, NW10.

You can read more about the work that needs to be done at of community green spaces here– as we’re proud to add Jenny to our list of spaces and call the Disabled and Elderly Trust an official partner.

If you’d like your team to get stuck in at Harrow Road Community Eco-Garden, please email Matt@LeavesBreathe.co.uk.

We need the people-power, energy, and funding of at least three Corporate Gardening Volunteer groups – please do come and pitch in!

This great to see. Jenny is also one of our partners at Hanworth Community Larder & Café in West London.
Visited her plot and excited for the new ventures about to happen. Thank you for this amazing opportunity for children and elderly. Gardening is such a healing activity. All the best for 2024.
